Apple has started rolling out the next generation of CarPlay — CarPlay Ultra. The company has announce that CarPlay Ultra is available with the new Aston Martin vehicle orders in the U.S. and Canada, and will be available for existing models that feature the brand’s next-generation infotainment system through a software update in the coming weeks. Built on the capabilities of CarPlay, Apple CarPlay Ultra promises to offer ultimate in-car experience by deeply integrating with the vehicle to deliver the best of iPhone and the best of the car. It provides information for all of the driver’s screens, including real-time content and gauges in the instrument cluster, while reflecting the automaker’s look and feel and offering drivers a customizable experience. “iPhone users love CarPlay, and it has transformed how people connect with their vehicles. With CarPlay Ultra, together with automakers, we are reimagining the in-car experience, making it even more unified and consistent,” said Bob Borchers, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing.

Apple CarPlay Ultra features

CarPlay Ultra enhances instrument cluster integration, allowing drivers to view speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, and temperature readings alongside maps, media, and advanced driver assistance data.

Key features include:

  • Custom themes tailored to each automaker’s design philosophy.
  • On-screen controls, physical buttons, and Siri for managing radio, climate, and vehicle-specific settings.
  • iPhone-style widgets for quick access to calendar events, weather, and notifications.
CarPlay Ultra is first launching with Aston Martin vehicles in the U.S. and Canada, with a software update coming soon for existing models. Other automakers, including Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis, have committed to integrating CarPlay Ultra into their future vehicles.
