Virat Kohli, Anushka Sharma visit spiritual guru Premanand Maharaj in Vrindavan

NEW DELHI: A day after announcing his retirement from the Test cricket, former Team India captain and star batter Virat Kohli visited Vrindavan with his wife Anushka Sharma on Tuesday.The couple visited their spiritual guide Premanand Maharaj at Vrindavan Dham to receive his blessings. They are dedicated followers of Swami Premanand Maharaj and frequently visit Vrindavan.Kohli's retirement from Test cricket concluded a distinguished 14-year tenure, during which he excelled across various conditions, territories, and opponents, both as a batsman and leader.Throughout his Test career, the 36-year-old participated in 123 matches, accumulating 9,230 runs with an average of 46.85. His record includes 30 centuries, 31 fifties across 210 innings, and a highest score of 254*. He stands as India's fourth-highest run-scorer in Tests, following Sachin Tendulkar (15,921 runs), Rahul Dravid (13,265 runs), and Sunil Gavaskar (10,122 runs).His Test journey began in June 2011 against the West Indies. Despite a disappointing debut tour with only 76 runs in five innings, the young player soon established himself with impressive, aggressive performances.His breakthrough as a Test cricketer came with his first century against Australia at Adelaide in 2012, scoring 116 from 213 deliveries. From 2016 to 2019, he experienced an exceptional period, accumulating 4,208 runs in 43 Tests at an average of 66.79, with 16 centuries and 10 fifties in 69 innings, including his best score of 254*.His achievement of seven double centuries remains a record for any Test captain. The 2020s proved challenging, with 2,028 runs in 39 Tests at an average of 30.72, including three centuries and nine fifties in 69 innings.His performance improved in 2023, scoring 671 runs in eight Tests at an average of 55.91, with two centuries and two fifties in 12 innings.
