YouTuber Birju Mayal 'attacked by assailants' in Uttarakhand

RUDRAPUR: A YouTuber from Kotabagh in Nainital, Birju Mayal, was allegedly attacked and left seriously injured by unidentified assailants in the Haldua area of Kashipur, Udham Singh Nagar on Monday. A video of the aftermath is circulating on social media, showing Mayal lying injured on the road.Mayal, known for creating content on critical issues concerning the state, was initially taken to L D Bhatt Hospital in Kashipur. However, due to the severity of his injuries, doctors referred him to Sushila Tiwari Hospital in Haldwani. In the clip, he can be seen being loaded into a vehicle , repeatedly asking if he was being taken to the hospital by the "right people". His damaged bike was also seen lying on the road nearby.Meanwhile, an eyewitness, requesting anonymity, said that Mayal's injuries were the result of an accident rather than an attack. "I saw his bike skid and crash. It didn't look like an assault to me," the witness said. Kashipur SP Abhay Kumar Singh said that while no official complaint had been received, police had launched an investigation. "We are analysing CCTV footage from the area to ascertain the truth behind the incident," the SP said.
