The NBA Cup MVP and the NBA Cup will both be up for grabs tonight when the Oklahoma City Thunder take on the Milwaukee Bucks. Continue reading to learn who are the most likely candidates to win the NBA Cup MVP award.

Here Are the Top Three Most Likely Candidates to Win the NBA Cup MVP

1) Giannis Antetokounmpo

Giannis Antetokounmpo has been the best player in the league this season alongside, Luka Doncic. The Greek Freak is currently averaging 32.7 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game. Antetokounmpo has played a total of five NBA Cup fixtures and is averaging 31.4 points. He is someone that Doc Rivers looks toward for both offense and defense and without him, the Bucks wouldn't have gotten this far in the tournament.

If Giannis takes control of the game from the very beginning, there is a good chance of him walking away with the NBA Cup MVP award.

2) Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

Without Shai Gilegous-Alexander’s contributions, the Thunder wouldn’t be in the NBA Cup finals and would certainly not be top of the Western Conference. The 26-year-old has put Oklahoma on his back this season and has carried them in the NBA Cup averaging. 32.2 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 6.5 assists per game.
If Oklahoma wins tomorrow, it will all be thanks to Gilgeous-Alexander, thus making him a worthy candidate for the NBA Cup MVP trophy.

3) Damian Lillard

The match between the Bucks and the Thunder is expected to be a close affair. In a close game, the Bucks will without a doubt call plays that put Damian Lillard in the driving seat. There is a reason why clutch minutes are called Dame time and if Lillard justifies that name tonight, he will have a good shot at claiming the NBA Cup MVP.
Even if we count out the finals, Lillard has been solid during the NBA Cup and has averaged 28.2 points, 9.2 assists, and 4.0 rebounds. The 34-year-old is more than worthy of lifting the MVP trophy.
With $500,000 per head on the line, each player has been giving their best throughout the tournament. However, it is highly unlikely that the NBA Cup MVP trophy will be given to someone outside of the three mentioned above.
