Caitlin Clark, the two time national player of the year and the sports icon of Indiana Fever, lately shared her encore career in a press engagement for her Sports Illustrated magazine feature. Clark mentioned that she has no interest in following Tom Brady’s path as a sports broadcaster after retirement.
A rare glimpse of Caitlin Clark’s off-court personality with teammates
Instead of focusing on her rising fame or on-court skills, Caitlin Clark gave fans a rare look at her off-court personality during a playful media segment ‘Aliyah Boston Tea Party’ with teammates Kelsey Mitchell, Aliyah Boston, and DeWanna Bonner. The group, featured together on Sports Illustrated’s May cover, took part in a light game to test their knowledge of one another.
During a lighthearted conversation, Aliyah Boston playfully suggested that Caitlin Clark might consider a future in sports broadcasting once her playing days are over. To which Clark responded immediately and decisively, “Definitely not. I don’t want to do that.”
This strong reaction aligns with what Clark shared previously on David Letterman’s My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, where she opened up about her desire to stay connected to basketball, but in a way that feels authentic and different from the usual broadcasting route.
"I'm not going to want to still be on the sidelines, probably," Clark explained. "Maybe I'll be up in a suite, like a general manager or something fun like that, I don't know."
David Letterman pointed to Tom Brady as an example, highlighting his $375 million, 10-year deal with Fox Sports and his minority ownership in the Las Vegas Raiders.
"Well, that paycheck he's getting is pretty nice," Clark said. "He owns the [Las Vegas] Raiders, that's not too bad. He's just doing it all."
Clark’s unexpected take on her post-basketball plans sparked plenty of buzz on X. Fans were quick to react to her ambition beyond the court, with one user commenting, "Caitlin Clark as a GM? That'd be amazing—she's already thinking big!"
As Caitlin Clark gears up for her second WNBA season, which starts on May 17 against the Chicago Sky, she’s not just focused on the game ahead but also thinking about her future. After an impressive rookie year averaging 19.2 points, 8.5 assists, and 5.8 rebounds per game she earned the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year title.
