Jeremy Swayman breaks silence after Bruins worst season in years

The Boston Bruins had a very rough year. They finished near the bottom of the league and missed the playoffs. This is not normal for the Bruins, a team that’s been strong for nearly two decades. Now, the players are speaking out. They say they know they can do better, and they’re ready to work hard to bring back the winning spirit that their fans expect and deserve.Goalie Jeremy Swayman, playing for the World Championship, said that the Bruins failed to meet their standard. Boston had just 33 wins and 39 losses by the end of the season. They were tied for last place in the Eastern Conference. "We know what we have to do to have success in Boston. Our fans deserve much more and we deserve much more. That's what we're going to do." During the off-season, they had signed decent players such as Elias Lindholm and Nikita Zadorov. But it all went downhill fast.The Boston Bruins started the season 8-9-3, and coach Jim Montgomery was fired in November due to this. Swayman also did not report to training camp due to a contract holdout. Other stars forwards like Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak were also carrying injuries. Hampus Lindholm was lost for the season through injury while Charlie McAvoy was lost for the season after getting injured in an international tournament.Elias Lindholm explained a lot of things went wrong this season. He cited the Lindholm and McAvoy injuries, the coaching transition, and all the contract melodrama. "It was a lot of noise and attention," he said. "Not the season anyone wanted."Nonetheless, the Boston Bruins did some clever things in advance of the trade deadline. They brought on board some young pieces and a bunch of draft selections. They obtained players like Fraser Minten, Casey Mittelstadt, William Zellers, Marat Khusnutdinov, and Jakub Lauko. They now hold the No. 7 pick for the 2025 NHL Draft.Star right-wing David Pastrnak also believes things will improve. "Tough season," he explained. "But we've added some good pieces. We have some draft picks. I believe in management. I'm 100 percent sure we're going to be better next year."Despite the disappointment, team leaders have doubled down on accountability.
