At times, viewers know the best. The viewers are the best judges of the play. Even when a team could fail to understand that - that’s what transpired with the Edmonton Oilers when they brought back their goaltender Calvin Pickard instead of Stuart Skinner.
After Oilers lost Game 1 and Game 2, X users flooded the Edmonton Oilers X posts with, “Please start Pickard in Game 3 otherwise we are done for the playoffs #wewantcup #LetsGoOilers” and “Skinner has played his final game in an Oilers jersey” collectively. In Game 3, the Oilers heard them so well.

They brought goalie Calvin Pickard and did not ask Stuart Skinner for Game 3. An X user appreciated this move and wrote, “Do not dare put Skinner back in the net again. Do not. The save that Pickard made at the end there was huge, Skinner would have never done that. You put Skinner in and you are dooming the team. Good job Edmonton, never lost faith! 🤘”

“RIGHT BACK IN THE SERIES,” proudly read the X post of Edmonton Oilers, and viewers couldn’t contain themselves

“Watch all the Kings fans cry about refs when you guys had the refs through the first 2 games. Oilers in 6.”
“Win next game, they’ll win the series. Keep Pickard in nets”

“Please let pickard start again next game istg if you don’t”
“THAT LATERAL SAVE BY PICARD SKINNER WOULD NEVER”
“Great 👍 comeback! 👏👏”

“It feels good when we play our # 1 goalie.”

Calvin Pickard got the job done for the Edmonton Oilers in Game 3 against the Los Angeles Kings

In the final seconds of the LA Kings versus the Oilers’ Game 3 of Round 1 of the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs match, the LA Kings looked hungry for a goal despite being at a disappointing loss of 6-2 at the hands of the Oilers.
The goal was so costly both for the LA Kings and the Oilers. And guess what happened? Calvin Pickard, the goalie for the Edmonton Oilers, made an epic save. An epic save that landed into an empty netter.
Connor Brown found an empty net for the Oilers to score their 7th goal! The Oilers ended the Game 3 of the best-of-seven series with a riveting 7-2 win against the ruthless LA Kings! X users loved it, “Great save that needs more love!”, another wrote, “Skinner would never move fast enough lateraly to make that cross ice pass save”, and a third fan said, “Tremendous save!!! He may have let in a couple weak ones, but doing this when the game is on the line was HUGEE!!! He’s our guy for the rest of the playoffs, no doubt.”
