Divyanka Tripathi and Vivek Dahiya had an insightful conversation in Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa's podcast. The duo recalled getting robbed on their Europe trip and how even the police of the country didn't help them. They even made shocking revelations of the robbery that they hadn't shared before. Here's what Vivek and Divyanka revealed:
There is zero protection there, we were robbed in Florence. We went to the vineyard where there was a resort. So before check-in, there was a tour so we thought we would do that and then check in. We even asked the receptionist whether it was safe to keep the luggage in the lobby and they agreed. They were all together in the robbery.
We first thought about how sweet and warm people they are. When we got robbed, the ladies there even bought us shampoo and all saying that we lost our luggage, we wouldn't have anything. Kamaal ke actors hai, they even started crying with us. We lost our whole luggage.
In those 40kgs, we lost expensive things and even precious things. I am a crazy fan of Formula 1, so I had gotten a specially signed cap from Louis Hamilton. I lost that, what amount would you evaluate that? We lost many valuable things in that luggage of ours.
That lady who was being all helpful to us came to the police station to file the complaint. Now, because of the language barrier she put us in a major fix. As she was crying, we thought she was helping us but she gave a completely opposite statement. She told them that we didn't want to report the crime and we didn't want a follow-up. It was our fault that we left our luggage in public parking. She said that all. It was a 5-star property and this is how they robbed us.
A day before this major theft, we even lost our drone. It got robbed in the air. I was shooting the Leaning Tower of Pisa and they asked me not to fly the drone so I signalled it to return. Now, we felt really embarrassed to share this before. While the drone was flying back to us, someone pulled the drone inside their house.
I knew where the drone was so I went to the police and we told them that it was an act of theft. They were right below the building but they refused to help us and asked us to go to the police station. Now, there the station closes at 6 pm. We went to the station and they told us to come the next day because they were shut. They don't help us at all. If you see their policemen, they look like they are going for a photo shoot and not a job.
You have nothing and you don't know what to do. They had even punctured our car's tyre so we couldn't go anywhere to get cash. Somehow, Vivek's friend helped us with Apple Pay and that is how we managed to get out of that situation. As we didn't have our cards or any other way to pay for anything.
