Suriya calls wife Jyotika his 'Kannadi Poo' at 'Retro' trailer launch

Suriya is all set to return to the silver screen with his much-awaited film Retro, directed by Karthik Subbaraj. During a recent pre-release event, where the makers unveiled the official trailer, Suriya took to the stage to share some heartfelt words with his fans, team and his lovely wife Jyotika.

As per a Pinkvilla report, in a touching moment, the star gave a special mention to his wife Jyotika, affectionately calling her his 'Kannadi Poo' a term of affection that is also a catchy phrase from one of the film's songs featuring Pooja Hegde.
During his speech, Suriya spoke about the many layers in Retro, promising audiences a mix of love, laughter, and war. He expressed gratitude for the support of his fans, crediting them and his wife for his happiness and success.

He said, "I'm here because of you all. I'm here because of your love and thanks to my 'Kannadi Poo' Jo, my journey wouldn't be a happier one without her."

The newly released trailer offers a glimpse into Retro’s gripping narrative, showing Suriya in a powerful role as a gangster who struggles to break free from a life of violence. The story centres on a love that endures against all odds, with Pooja Hegde playing Suriya’s on-screen wife.
'Retro' also features an impressive supporting cast, including Jayaram, Karunakaran, Prakash Raj, Joju George, Swasika, Singampuli, and Nassar, with Shriya Saran making a special cameo appearance.

Apart from 'Retro', Suriya is also working on another film titled 'Suriya 45', directed by RJ Balaji. Meanwhile, Jyotika recently appeared in the web series 'Dabba Cartel' and was seen in the 2024 thriller 'Shaitan' alongside Ajay Devgn and R Madhavan.
