This Indian OTT platform is bringing the latest Lord of the Rings anime movie

Indian Lord of the Rings fans, rejoice! JioHotstar will stream 'The War of the Rohirrim' anime movie from May 13, 2025. While currently rentable on Amazon Prime Video, JioHotstar subscribers can watch it for free. The film, directed by Kenji Kamiyama, is set 200 years before 'The Hobbit,' focusing on King Helm Hammerhand's conflict with Wulf, the heir of Freca.

Well, well, well, there is a piece of good news for all the Lord of the Rings fans in India. So, JioHotstar, one of the most popular OTT platforms in the country, is bringing Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim anime movie. It will be available starting from May 13, 2025. While the movie is already available on Amazon Prime Video to rent, all the people who have JioHotstar subscriptions can watch the same for free. For those who don't have a subscription, the JioHotstar subscription has three tiers in India - Mobile, Super, and Premium. The Mobile subscription can be purchased for Rs 149 a quarter and Rs 499 for a year. The Premium subscription is available for Rs 299 a quarter and Rs 899 for a year. The Premium subscription can be bought for Rs 299 a month, Rs 499 a quarter, and Rs 1,499 a year. Lord of the Rings: The War or the Rohirrim anime movie detailsAs for the movie, Lord of the Rings: The War of Rohirrim, it was released originally in 2024 and directed by Kenji Kamiyama. The events of the same are set 200 years before what we get to see in The Hobbit.
Coming to the plot, the anime movie revolves around King Helm Hammerhand. The story starts with the king taking the life of Freca and giving birth to a conflict that will be led by Freca's heir, Wulf, who is also the number one enemy of Rohan (the daughter of King Helm Hammerhand). The movie is a decent watch, and it also works as a prequel to the main story. As for the reviews, it garnered mixed reactions all over the globe. However, if you are a fan of the franchise, then missing it should not be an option for you. And keeping in mind that there are a lot of Lord of the Rings fans in India, it will be interesting to see how grand of a welcome the movie can garner once it is available to stream.
