Bill Belichick is under heavy criticism following growing concerns over his relationship with 24-year-old girlfriend Jordon Hudson. The backlash erupted after Hudson disrupted a CBS Sunday Morning interview that was meant to spotlight Belichick’s new book, The Art of Winning. When the topic shifted to their relationship, Hudson reportedly interrupted the segment, despite the network confirming there were no pre-set conditions for the interview.
Critics claim Jordon Hudson may have penned Bill Belichick’s CBS response
The situation worsened after Bill Belichick issued a strongly worded statement blaming CBS for the incident. Many, including media personality Dave Portnoy, speculated that Jordon Hudson may have drafted the statement herself. This added to the narrative that she’s exerting significant control not just over their personal life but also Belichick’s professional dealings.
ESPN’s Chris “Mad Dog” Russo has added his voice to the growing criticism surrounding Bill Belichick’s relationship with Jordon Hudson and true to form, he held nothing back.
Speaking on his Mad Dog Sports Radio show on Wednesday, the outspoken broadcaster blasted the entire situation, calling it “a dog show” and claiming Hudson has Belichick completely under her control, saying she’s got him “twirled around her finger.” Russo’s comments echo the sentiments of frustrated UNC officials and fans, who worry the relationship is becoming a major distraction for the team.
"Her scenario there last week with, ‘We’re not going there,’ and the idea, I guess, she kept CBS waiting for 30 minutes - that was a complete disaster," Russo began. "I mean, this girlfriend of his, I mean, I’m sorry. She’s a young kid. She’s 24 years of age. She knows nothing about the media spotlight, especially the sports media spotlight. And it looks like she’s got Bill twirled around his finger. Let’s call it like we see it. This is a dog show. That’s what it looks like to me!”
“Here’s another thing: Do you think there is any shape, way, or form that Bill would allow a coach or a player or his mentor, [Bill] Parcells, to wear high heels running through a football practice?” Russo asked. “Can you see Bill Parcells allowing his assistant coach or a player to go to the conclusion of a practice at MetLife with his young girlfriend, who’s wearing heels? Are you kidding me? Bill would go crazy.”
Just a week before his fiery rant, Chris “Mad Dog” Russo was abruptly cut off by ESPN while trying to discuss Bill Belichick’s relationship with Jordon Hudson during his “What are you mad about?” segment. Co-host Molly Qerim initially encouraged the topic but quickly shut it down with a quiet “They said no,” hinting at a producer’s intervention. Russo, clearly disappointed, backed off and vowed to “edit himself” going forward.
Fans and former NFL insiders are raising red flags. A leaked internal email showed Belichick requesting that Hudson be looped into all of his professional communications. Critics argue that this level of involvement is unprecedented and inappropriate, especially in a high-stakes coaching role at a major university like UNC.
On top of that, Hudson’s presence at practice sessions where she was seen assisting Belichick and handling equipment sparked further concerns about her influence on team operations. Some labeled her behavior as unprofessional, while others questioned why she’s being allowed such access.
